Croftburn Market was created as a butcher shop and more. The idea was to provide high quality local meats and foods to the people in the Culpeper area. Located about 75 miles southwest of Washington, DC, Croftburn Market recognized that people want to know what they are eating and to support local farmers.

Having grown up on a cattle farm, I knew what good beef tasted like: my family, like many in the area, raised Black Angus beef cattle, sheep, hay, and corn. We could see those meats weren't available in any of the local stores. The only way one could get local beef was to buy a whole animal and have it custom processed, or to buy frozen cuts out of coolers at Farmers Markets. Recognizing that most people do not have space for hundreds of pounds of beef, and the cooler alternative wasn’t an option, I decided that this area needed an old time butcher shop where people could purchase meats. A proper butcher shop where one could get fresh local beef, cut to order. Step right up and order steak cut to the thickness you desire, a roast that's the perfect size, or ground beef that contains no preservatives or fillers.

I wanted to provide our community access to local food. Real food.

One of our unique items are fresh sausages, dried salamis and cured meats made right here at the store. When I opened Croftburn Market I had great time exploring different sausage recipes inspired by European and classic American dishes. We currently hand-craft a wide variety of pork and chicken fresh sausages as well as many types of air-dried sausages and beef jerky.

While our focus remains natural, healthy meats, we also offer many different local and gourmet foods. Our shelves are stocked with pastured eggs, oils, salsas and sauces, local raw honey, seasonal greens, milk and dairy, pastas, bread, cheese, and bakery items, as well as a great selection of wine and beer. All the essentials for a complete meal!

People are coming to Culpeper from all around the Washington Metropolitan area. The word is definitely out about our high quality meats, sausages and charcuterie. Each day we welcome our regular customers as well as new customers.
